The nomination of Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence poses a grave risk to America's national security interests. Her troubling record of apologism for hostile dictators like Bashar al-Assad in Syria and Vladimir Putin in Russia raises serious concerns about her ability to safeguard classified information and steer the intelligence community with impartiality. Gabbard has repeatedly parroted Kremlin propaganda, blamed NATO enlargement for Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, and even suggested the U.S. is culpable for Putin's reckless nuclear threats. Her apparent sympathy for these autocratic regimes compromises her judgment and makes her unfit to lead the very agencies tasked with countering their malign influence worldwide. As the nation's chief intelligence officer, the DNI must be a staunch defender of democracy and human rights - values that Gabbard's rhetoric and actions have undermined time and again. Confirming her would gravely undermine the credibility and cohesion of the US intelligence community at a perilous time for global security. I urge you to reject this deeply alarming nomination that prioritizes retribution over national security and uphold the Senate's constitutional obligation to provide advice and consent on such crucial appointments. The safety and interests of the American people must supersede partisan loyalty. Please act to protect the integrity of our intelligence institutions.
