This country is becoming less safe under Trumps administration. RFK Jr.'s, as Secretary Health and Human Sevices, has overseen the gutting of the CDC's career scientist and brought staffing numbers to critical shortage levels. RFK Jr. has no experience or Education that makes him an appropriate fit for this role, but Trump values loyalty over ability, so here we are. Under RFK Jr.'s "leadership" the CDC has undermined vaccine science and simultaneously peddled anti-vaxxer conspiracies. As a result, we have been battling measles outbreaks, and whooping cough, which are preventable diseases. Unvaccinated children are dying because of the fear and lies RFK Jr. pushes. Then there is the Vitamin K shot given to infants after birth. RFK Jr. say babies shouldn't get the shot, against all scientific and medical advice. Babies will no doubt die or suffer catastrophic health outcomes due to this bogus advice. The CDC is also responsible for the recent cyclosporiasis parasite outbreak. The CDC scaled back the Foodnet Surveillance Program which previously tracked cyclosporiasis parasite and other food borne illnesses, optional. Thousands of people are now sick and the agency is scrambling to figure out the source of the contamination. Then we have the screw worm outbreak. Thanks to DOGE cuts to the USDA, they suffered massive losses of career scientist and staff. DOGE also cut the 15 million dollars funding the program that monitors screw worms. (Trump is now looking at 1 billion dollars to combat the screw worm outbreak.) Under Secretary Brooke Rollins, the USDA revesed a Biden era restriction on importing cattle from Mexico due to high levels of screw worm infection, exacerbate the problem here in the US. She has since reversed that decision, but not in time to prevent what is now a serious problem. It could take years to get this outbreak under control. This is what happens when we let Trump create DOGE and take a sledgehammer to our government agencies. Trump had no authority to dismantle these agencies or to cut funding that was appropriated by Cingress. However, the Republican dominated Congress set aside their sworn oath to the Constitution and ceded their power to Trump. The results have been disastrous.
