An Open Letter
To: Rep. Finstad
From: A verified voter in Blue Earth, MN
November 19
I am a constituent from Blue Earth, and I am trying to understand your record so I can make informed decisions as a voter. I’ve noticed differences between some of your public statements and certain votes you’ve taken, and I would appreciate clarification.
For example:
You speak often about supporting rural families and seniors, yet you voted against measures that lowered prescription drug costs and extended ACA subsidies that help people in our region access affordable care.
You emphasize helping working families, but have supported tax policies that primarily benefit higher-income households while opposing expansions to food and nutrition programs many local families rely on.
You express support for equal opportunity, yet have voted against proposals related to civil rights and voting protections.
You highlight the need for rural infrastructure and broadband, but have opposed federal funding initiatives that would directly support those improvements.
Because these positions seem inconsistent, I am asking how you reconcile these votes with the priorities you say you represent. Understanding your reasoning would help me evaluate your work on behalf of our district.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response.
