Please vote no to SB 593! This proposed bill represents a concerning overreach of government power into the private lives of citizens. Attempting to prohibit all pornography for adults in their own homes is a violation of personal freedom and autonomy. While protecting minors from exploitation is a legitimate goal, conflating adult pornography with child sexual abuse material risks undermining that vital objective through overly broad legislation. There are more nuanced and effective approaches to combating the exploitation of children without infringing on the rights of consenting adults. Rather than blanket bans, a better path forward would focus enforcement efforts specifically on producers and traffickers of illegal materials while respecting the civil liberties of the general population to make their own personal choices regarding lawful content in private settings. Oklahomans deserve a balanced approach that safeguards the vulnerable while preserving essential individual liberties.
