Condemn Trump's suppression of peaceful protests and civil liberties

To: Gov. Cox

From: A constituent in South Jordan, UT

June 11

Trump's unprecedented decision to deploy active-duty military forces against peaceful protesters exercising their constitutional rights represents a deeply concerning escalation of authoritarianism that erodes American democracy and civil liberties. This extreme overreach of federal power to suppress lawful First Amendment activities sets a dangerous precedent that undermines the rule of law. As elected representatives sworn to uphold the Constitution, I urge you to forcefully condemn these unjustified actions in the strongest possible terms and take immediate steps to rein in this abuse of executive authority. We must defend our citizens' fundamental freedoms and democratic system of government from this rapidly accelerating slide towards despotism. The nation's leaders have a moral obligation to speak out resolutely against such alarming affronts to liberty and human rights.
