The proposed legislation to defund public broadcasters PBS and NPR is misguided and will deprive Americans of valuable educational and non-commercial programming. These institutions play a vital role in providing high-quality content that informs, educates and enriches communities across the nation. Cutting off their federal funding undermines their ability to fulfill this important public service mission. Furthermore, the relatively modest investment of taxpayer dollars in public media pales in comparison to the immense value it provides through enlightening shows for children, in-depth news coverage, thought-provoking documentaries and more. I urge you to oppose any efforts to defund PBS and NPR, as preserving robust public broadcasting is in the national interest.
