Enact Worker Protections

To: Sen. Bergstrom, Rep. Bashore, Gov. Stitt

From: A constituent in Quapaw, OK

July 16

18 states have enacted preemption laws prohibiting cities and counties from establishing paid leave standards or raising the minimum wage, according to the latest research from the National Partnership for Women & Families. This erodes worker protections and working families' economic security. Paid leave promotes employee retention, productivity, and families' financial stability. States should repeal these harmful preemption laws and empower local governments to enact paid leave policies meeting their communities' needs. Providing paid leave is a critical investment in working families, businesses, and strong local economies.
