Vote NO to Patel and other cabinet nominees

To: Rep. Owens

From: A constituent in Herriman, UT

February 13, 2025

I agree with you that addressing the deficit and streamlining the bureaucracy is important and I understand that big changes are uncomfortable. However, what is happening now is not about reforming for good. President Trump is overreaching with many of his executive orders. If he were a Democrat, you would be calling foul. Elon Musk has not been properly vetted nor has he been elected, and his conflicts of interest are on full display. He has not sworn to act in our best interests. He should not have sweeping access to classified or sensitive information. And he most definitely should not be in charge of our tax money. While the courts are debating the legalities of Trump’s executive orders, your hands are not tied. I urge you to vote against confirming any more cabinet members. They are grossly unqualified and only serving to solidify executive power with their unquestioning loyalty to one man, not the country. To confirm them is to give up your own legislative power. Utah voted for you as our legislator, not President Trump.  You must be uncomfortable with a lot of what’s going on, so please don’t rationalize going along with it. Stand up for us.
