Investigate potential insider trading by Trump administration officials
To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee
From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT
April 13
I firmly believe that there needs to be a thorough investigation into whether President Trump or any of his associates engaged in insider trading related to his recent tariff announcements and policy changes. The stark market swings, both the steep declines after Trump's initial tariff threats and the subsequent dramatic rebound following his declaration of a 90-day tariff pause, raise valid concerns about potential market manipulation and abuse of insider knowledge. As public servants entrusted with immense power over economic policies that directly impact markets, it is imperative that the President and his team are held to the highest ethical standards. Any hint of exploiting confidential information for personal financial gain is unacceptable. The American people deserve full transparency and accountability on this issue. An independent inquiry by the Securities and Exchange Commission is warranted to ensure no laws were broken and that market integrity was maintained. Protecting fair markets and equal opportunity should be a top priority.
