We need some kind of "Personal Responsibility" legislation for social media, along the lines of "Stand By Your Ad" laws. Politicians must be held personally accountable for posts on their social media accounts. Reposts, too! They should not be allowed to use "staff error" as an excuse. I realize this may result in a lot of unpaid social media internships being eliminated, but then, so be it - I think unpaid internships should be illegal as well. How can I lobby for this (for both issues, actually)? While we're at it, it should not be legal for Executive Branch officials to make policy announcements on social media unless the proper paperwork has been done first. Likewise hirings and firings. Maybe this could be in a catch-all bill designed to prevent abuse of social media. Or misuse.
