I write to express serious concern regarding reports that the President is directing public funds to the “Board of Peace” in a manner that results in personal enrichment. If accurate, such conduct would constitute a profound breach of public trust and an abuse of executive authority.
Public funds are entrusted to government officials for the defense, welfare, and advancement of the nation—not for private gain. The Constitution grants Congress the power of oversight precisely to prevent the misuse of appropriations and to ensure accountability at the highest levels of government. No officeholder, including the President, is above the law.
I respectfully urge Congress to take the following actions:
Launch a prompt, independent, and transparent investigation into the allocation and use of funds directed to the Board of War.
Subpoena relevant financial records and communications necessary to determine whether conflicts of interest or self-dealing have occurred.
If evidence confirms wrongdoing, pursue appropriate remedies consistent with the Constitution and applicable law.
This issue transcends political affiliation. It concerns the preservation of institutional integrity and the confidence citizens place in their elected leaders. Allowing even the appearance of personal profiteering from public defense funds undermines national unity and weakens faith in democratic governance.
Congress has both the authority and the obligation to ensure that executive actions align with legal and ethical standards. A thorough review will either restore public confidence or uncover misconduct that must be addressed decisively.
The credibility of our institutions depends on your willingness to act with diligence, impartiality, and courage.
