The Republican party is not the party of Christian values it claims to be.

Today, as I read the news, I am once again shocked and saddened by the dehumanization I see coming out of the Republican Party. I grew up in a very conservative, very Christian, and very Republican household. My parents, my church leaders, and my parents' friends always talked about how the Republican party was the party of Christian values and the party of family values. As I have grown into adulthood, I have had a profound sense of disappointment and disillusionment over what the Republican party actually stands for, as it is nothing akin to moral. I see a Republican party that considers being anti LGBTQ and Anti abortion to be the same as being moral or centered around Christian principles. I see a Republican party that continues to strip potential from children in poor communities and states by cutting funding for education. I see the Republican party that cuts funding for WIC, SNAP, and children's access to a free school lunch. I see the Republican party undermine access to HUD housing and Medicaid for poor and disabled people. I see the Republican party villainize people who cross our boarders seeking asylum out of sheer desperation to feed and protect themselves and their children. I see the Republican party back a president who lies, cheats and degrades. I see a Republican party that would rather women die without access to proper medical care, than allow women to have medically necessary abortions. I see a Republican party that prioritizes women and young teens, giving birth over making sure that those children, once born, have what they need to become healthy, productive members of our society. I see a Republican party that gives tax breaks to billionaires and corporations, moving $79 trillion dollars from working class Americans in the last 5 decades, than to see the entire country prosper. I see a Republican party that continues to embrace nationalism, racism, xenophobia, and hatred instead of working to make this a country that works for all of it's people equally. This Republican party that I was taught to believe in is a party consumed with bigotry and greed. It is feeding off of the soul of this country, pushing it to the brink of our current moral crisis. This is not the moral party I was raised to believe it was, and I can not turn a blind eye to it's deteriorating character as it rots from the inside.
