The Supreme Court is set to make a decision about Birthright Citizenship, whether a person born to immigrants, legal or otherwise, is automatically a US Citizen The thing about that is, it is not their decision to make. It was already made on July 9th 1868, it's called the 14th Amendment. Said Amendment states, and I quote from official government website constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-14/ "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." The court agreeing to hear this case at all is ludicrous, and confesses their disregard for the Constitution and desire to turn the country over to Fascists. Funnily enough, the same Amendment has a section that states no one who has engaged in insurrection can hold office. If SCOTUS must hear this case, I pray it's only to completely dress down and humiliate those attempting to supercede the Constitution. In the likely, ludicrous, event they do rule in King Trump's favor, State officials must reaffirm and reinforce their commitment to uphold the Constitution. In whatever case, the Court is long overdue to gain far more seats or, even better, be dissolved entirely. A handful of out of touch and easily bribed elders should not, CAN not make decisions on behalf of the millions of people in this country that oppose This Administration's vile, destructive actions. ICE and other immigration enforcement is already engaging in frankly evil behavior as it is. Giving them permission to violate the Constitution and deport birthright citizens will make them exponentially worse.
