Demand Justice for Nicholas Baska — Stop Enabling Hate

To: Gov. Hobbs, Sen. Mesnard, Rep. Weninger, Rep. Willoughby

From: A constituent in Gilbert, AZ

April 24

To my so-called representatives, How dare you sit in office and pretend to serve the people while hate-fueled violence erupts on your watch — and you do nothing? Nicholas Baska, a gay man, was savagely beaten in Phoenix — his face and jaw shattered. And yet the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office refuses to prosecute. The message? If you're queer in Arizona, your life doesn't matter. This was a hate crime. Full stop. If Nicholas were a straight, white conservative, you'd have plastered the attacker’s face across every fundraising email. But he's gay — and apparently, in your Arizona, that makes him disposable. Let’s be clear: You are complicit. Your silence is complicity. Your inaction is cowardice. Your refusal to act is an endorsement of hate. This isn’t just about Nicholas. It’s about the green light you're giving to every future attacker. If you can’t ensure equal protection under the law, then get the hell out of office and make room for someone who can. Demand prosecution. Name the failure. Call out the bias. Pass laws with teeth that make it clear: bigotry has no place here. And a special fuck you to Andy Biggs — Arizona’s most useless, performative little fascist. When Nuremberg 2.0 rolls around, he’ll have his seat at the table. How does a Mormon peddle Christian nationalism anyway? Has he forgotten his own people’s history of persecution and bloodshed? It’s laughable — if it weren’t so grotesque. You want to play both Jesus and Hitler? That’s not religion. That’s cowardice in a cassock. Do your jobs. Or resign in disgrace. — A constituent who sees through every damn lie
