Defend Congressional Authority Against Executive Overreach
To: Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis
From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT
February 9, 2025
I am deeply concerned about reports of unaccountable individuals, allegedly acting under the auspices of the executive branch, illegally dismantling federal agencies, such as USAID, and unlawfully accessing the personal data of American citizens. Beyond the illegality and instability these actions create, they represent a disturbing trend: Congress, the
only body with the constitutional authority to create or dismantle executive departments, appears to be yielding its power.
It is unacceptable for these individuals to unilaterally undermine the functions of our government without congressional approval. This is not just a policy debate--it is a question of whether Congress will defend its constitutional role or allow its authority to be eroded.
As my elected representative, what are you doing to investigate these actions, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure that Congress reasserts its rightful authority? I urge you to act decisively to prevent further overreach and restore the balance of power as outlined in the Constitution.
I look forward to your response.
