Close tax loopholes for billionaires, ensure everyone pays fair share.
To: Gov. Parson

We need to end the unfair practice of giving billionaires and corporations excessive tax breaks that deprive our cities and states of vital revenue. A clear example is the unprecedented 40-year tax break given to Donald Trump for the Commodore Hotel in New York City, which has cost the city over $410 million in forgone revenue. This sweetheart deal was blatant cronyism enabled by Trump's political connections and donations. It exemplifies how the wealthy and well-connected have manipulated the system for their own enrichment at the public's expense. We cannot allow our tax laws to be abused in this manner any longer. It is critically important that we close these loopholes and ensure a level playing field where everyone pays their fair share. Our communities depend on that tax revenue to fund vital services and infrastructure that benefit all citizens. I urge you to take action to prevent such egregious tax giveaways going forward and recoup the losses from past abuses where legally permissible. The public deserves transparency and fair treatment, not backroom deals for the elite.
