I am writing to you as a constituent to urge you to stand firm against the President’s recent "ultimatum" regarding the SAVE America Act. The declaration that the President will refuse to sign any other legislation—effectively holding the entire federal government hostage over a single bill—is a childish and dangerous tactic. We cannot allow the legislative process to be subverted by these types of ultimatums. The SAVE America Act is a solution in search of a problem. Non-citizen voting is already illegal, yet this bill would create massive hurdles for millions of eligible American citizens, including veterans and seniors who may not have immediate access to the "Gold Standard" documents now being demanded. Furthermore, the attempt to attach unrelated social riders regarding healthcare and sports is a transparent attempt to force through an extreme agenda. Please do not cave. I expect you to fight back against this blockade and protect our access to the ballot box. Our democracy should not be a bargaining chip.
