Reject partisan SAVE Act that disenfranchises eligible voters

To: Rep. Buchanan, Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Bradenton, FL

April 1

The SAVE Act represents a dangerous attempt to undermine voting rights and disenfranchise millions of eligible American voters. By imposing burdensome requirements like mandatory in-person registration with strict documentation proving citizenship, this legislation would erect unnecessary barriers to the fundamental democratic right to vote. Over 21 million citizens lack the required documents, and the in-person provision could disenfranchise rural voters who live far from registration sites. Rather than addressing virtually non-existent voter fraud, the SAVE Act appears aimed at suppressing votes, particularly from women who have changed their names and lack updated documentation. This overtly partisan bill is rooted in the baseless "Big Lie" of widespread illegal voting despite overwhelming evidence that U.S. elections are secure. Protecting voting rights and confidence in democracy demands rejecting this harmful legislation that would exclude millions of eligible Americans from the electoral process without justification. Voting is the cornerstone of democracy, and any attempt to restrict this right should be vehemently opposed.
