Uphold Veto of SB382

To: Rep. Zenger, Sen. Krawiec

From: A constituent in Pfafftown, NC

December 10

The North Carolina General Assembly should uphold Governor Cooper's veto of Senate Bill 382. This bill goes far beyond providing relief for hurricane survivors, instead serving as a political power grab that undermines elections, the judiciary, and the attorney general's office. Recovery efforts must take priority over partisan maneuvering. Three Republican state representatives - Mark Pless, Karl Gillespie, and Mike Clampitt - courageously voted against SB 382 initially. We urge them to continue standing strong by sustaining the governor's veto. Their votes are pivotal in stopping this harmful legislation that exploits the needs of hurricane victims for political gain. North Carolinians deserve a hurricane relief package focused solely on directly aiding those impacted by Hurricane Helene, without any unrelated provisions attached. Using survivors as pawns in a political scheme is unacceptable. We call on our representatives to put people over partisan power plays and protect our democratic processes by upholding the veto of SB 382.
