Buried in Stanford University’s 2026 AI Index Report was something disturbing that I knew would happen: real proof of brain drain out of the USA. There is a set of graphs that show the number of expert AI researchers and inventors who came INTO each of various countries during the last 25 years. Due to MAGA’s xenophobia and Trump’s making it much more expensive and difficult to obtain an H1B visa, the number of AI experts who came into the USA dropped from around 325 in 2024 to only about 26 in 2025. Meanwhile, India has seen a serious reduction in brain drain, and European countries such as France and Italy have halted brain drain altogether. How is America made greater by scaring away very smart people who, in the past, wanted to come to the United States, but now want to stay away? The MAGA destruction of America will take decades to reverse. I’m holding Senators Budd and Tillis responsible.
