Protect women's reproductive rights, uphold equal protection compassionately

February 12
The proposed legislation seeks to implement equal protection under the 14th Amendment for the right to life of both born and unborn human beings. While aiming to protect the lives of the unborn, it fails to adequately consider the fundamental right of women to make decisions about their own bodies and lives. Forcing women to carry pregnancies to term, even in cases of severe fetal abnormalities, rape, or threats to the mother's health, violates their bodily autonomy and human rights. We must find a compassionate solution that balances the interests of the unborn with the wellbeing and freedom of women, without depriving them of their reproductive rights. I urge you to oppose this bill and instead work towards legislation that upholds equal protection while respecting the diverse moral perspectives on this complex issue.
