Reject discriminatory ban on transgender athletes in sports

To: Sen. Sinema, Sen. Kelly, Rep. Ciscomani

December 2

This legislation, known as US House Bill 7187 the "Protection of Women in Olympic and Amateur Sports Act", unfairly discriminates against transgender individuals and undermines the core principles of equal opportunity and inclusion in sports. It perpetuates harmful stereotypes and ignores the scientific consensus that factors like hormone levels, not reproductive anatomy, are most relevant for determining athletic advantage. This bill promotes a narrow and outdated definition of gender that denies the lived experiences of many Americans. Rather than erecting unnecessary barriers, governing bodies should adopt policies based on current medical research and guidelines from organizations like the International Olympic Committee. An inclusive approach celebrates athletic excellence while upholding human rights and human dignity for all. I urge you to reject this discriminatory proposal and instead work to foster an environment of respect, fairness, and equal access in amateur athletics.
