The corruption that is happening in the federal government with Trump and his family is outrageous. He cannot accept a gift of a $400 million plane from Qatar. We are fools if we think that Qatar is not getting something in return. Which is the entire reason that our founding fathers wrote the emoluments clause of the constitution. And, as far as I am aware, the president has to follow the constitution unless we are no longer a constitutional republic, which I hope isn’t true. That his taxpayer funded justice department and White House council approved of this does not make it constitutional. They are just trying to spin what is clearly wrong. Our government should not be up for auction to the highest bidder. And that is exactly what Trump is signaling when he accepts a gift that violates the emoluments clause of the constitution. Congress cannot standby and let this happen. It is one more bit of erosion to our system of democracy. And all of these decisions being made by Trump that are eroding, democracy are adding up pretty darn quickly.
