Please oppose House Bill 88. Fentanyl is undeniably a serious issue in Ohio, but increasing criminal penalties alone does nothing but contribute to the problem. In my personal experience as someone who has worked in treatment for 7 years, overly punitive approaches worsen outcomes and do not reduce addiction or overdose rates in any capacity. Expanding access to prevention, treatment, and evidence-based interventions is essential in supporting individuals in recovery.
