An Open Letter
To: Rep. Bell
From: A constituent in Saint Ann, MO
January 16
An important vote is coming up in Congress — and it could help prevent another unauthorized war.
Following U.S. military action in and against Venezuela, members of Congress have introduced War Powers legislation to reassert their constitutional authority over decisions of war and peace. The most immediate effort, the bi-partisan led H.Con.Res.64, is expected to come to a House vote by January 22.
This resolution would require congressional authorization for continued U.S. military involvement in Venezuela. Similar efforts are underway in the Senate, reflecting growing bipartisan concern about unchecked executive war-making. Some members are also signaling openness to broader War Powers measures if escalation spreads beyond Venezuela.
You need to prevent this from escalating into a full blown war. YOU have the opportunity to prevent another World War.
