An Open Letter
To: Sen. Rosen
From: A verified voter in Las Vegas, NV
November 10
I was saddened by your sudden change of heart last night. You spoke so forcefully for weeks in favor of preserving health care, I had hope that one of my Senators truly understood the stakes, only to have it dashed so cruelly. I’m on Medicare, so the ACA tax credits don’t directly impact me, but it does affect many friends and family members who cannot afford the spike in premiums. The promise of a December vote to extend subsidies means nothing when the clear Republican goal is to once and for all destroy the ACA, which your yes vote would hasten.
My personal worry is that when the challenge comes to Social Security and Medicare (and it will) that you won’t defend that either.
Words and promises are hollow; it will be your actions in the coming days that show who you are and what you stand for. Please reconsider your vote and restore what little faith remains that you are indeed “fighting” for all Nevadans.
