An Open Letter

To: Rep. Briscoe, Sen. Plumb, Gov. Cox

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

April 17

Today at work we had a meeting where teachers and staff were informed of the new policies and practices we’ll have to enact to enforce HB257 in high school. Myself and nearly a dozen teachers in the room were crying, because we know this legislation is a death sentence for our trans, non-binary, and queer students. I wrote to you before the passage of HB257 begging and pleading that you wouldn’t do this to us. Those who voted in favor of HB257 and signed it into law are pathetic, heartless, cowardly people. My trans and non-binary students are brave and loving and the future. Shame on all of the Utah government.
