Save PBS and NPR

The administration's plan to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) is deeply concerning. PBS and NPR play a vital role in providing impartial, educational programming that enriches our communities. The proposed $1.1 billion cut would severely undermine public media stations across the country, disproportionately impacting smaller markets and rural areas that rely heavily on federal funding. These stations raise $7 from donors for every $1 in federal support, underscoring their value and efficient use of public funds. Eliminating CPB funding would devastate stations' ability to fulfill their mission of promoting civic engagement through quality journalism and educational content. As a constituent, I urge you to reject this misguided attempt to defund public media and instead safeguard this modest but essential investment in our democracy and local communities.
