Protect Public Sector Workers' Rights and Dignity

To: Rep. Ivory, Gov. Cox, Sen. Harper

From: A verified voter in West Jordan, UT

January 25

This proposed legislation threatens the rights and dignity of public sector workers in our state. By undermining labor unions, it diminishes the ability of employees to collectively advocate for fair wages, safe working conditions, and proper benefits. Such actions undermine principles of worker empowerment and equitable treatment that are crucial for a just society. Workers should have the freedom to organize and negotiate collaboratively with their employers. Unions play a vital role in protecting workers' interests and ensuring their voices are heard. Weakening these institutions risks exploitation and an imbalance of power that favors employers over the dedicated public servants who keep our communities functioning. I urge you to reconsider this misguided effort that disempowers a vital segment of our state's workforce. Instead, we should be finding ways to strengthen worker protections and promote positive labor relations built on mutual respect and a commitment to the common good. Our public employees deserve to have their rights and dignity upheld, not undermined by unnecessary legislation.
