The Trump administration's deployment of ICE tactical units and raids targeting immigrants in Chicago is unconscionable. Chicago has a proud tradition of welcoming immigrants and protecting their rights. These heavy-handed tactics spread fear among vulnerable communities and undermine public safety. Indiscriminate raids disrupt families and businesses, inflicting trauma on children. ICE should focus its limited resources on genuine threats, not hard-working people seeking a better life. As a sanctuary city, Chicago will not assist in these cruel and unnecessary actions that betray American values of human dignity. I urge you to denounce this fear-mongering approach and support immigration policies grounded in justice and compassion.
