Thank you for standing with Chuck Schumer
To: Sen. Hassan, Sen. Shaheen
From: A constituent in Manchester, NH
March 13
I wanted to let you know that I am really glad to see you stand together as one with Chuck Schumer.
I've been worried because I am really vulnerable as a disabled person who depends on Social Security disability and supplemental insurance, as well as Medicare, Medicaid, housing assistance, and SNAP.
I wish so much that I had the ability to work. I love giving. I love supporting my community. I became a nurse so that I could be a caregiver wherever I lived.
However, my ability to give as much as I would like to, is sincerely impeded, because of something I have little control over.
I didn't do anything to deserve rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. And there's only so much I can do to control it.
(Even the best medication for rheumatoid arthritis, only slows down the progression of RA.)
I had to give up a career path due to chronic pain, inflammation, and fatigue due to RA.
(Otherwise I would've been a midwife. Something that is desperately needed in many communities.)
I love this state and I'm happy to spend my Social Security disability dollars (meager, as they are) in this New Hampshire.
But as a member of society, in this community, I need help including complete healthcare assistance to fill in the gaps of Medicare, etc.
I need Housing and food and to be able to survive.
As a constituent, I look to you to fight for people like me. I voted for you and democrats down the ticket, and will continue to do so as long as we are able to vote.
I am very afraid of what Elon Musk has already done, continues to do, and has the intention of doing.
If Democrats continue to work together with the shared agenda of preserving democracy and civil/human/reproductive rights, (regardless of gender, sex, race, abilities, or disabilities, and members of the LGBTQIA community), I believe you could save us from a dictatorship.
Please continue to be on the right side of history and protecting those of us who are unable to protect ourselves.
