I support the new map—please vote yes

To: Del. Young, Del. Addison, Gov. Moore, Del. Smith, Sen. McCray

February 5

As a voter and constituent, I’m urging you to do everything in your power to stop Trump and his MAGA Republicans from hijacking the midterms and our democracy by holding a public vote on a new map for Maryland. Right now, Republicans in Washington are only concerned with saving their skins. Their budget slashed our healthcare and now they stand ready to redraw legislative maps in states across the country to add over a dozen new Republican seats and pad their margin in the House to stay in power. They’ve successfully gerrymandered Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio, giving Republicans an additional eight seats in Congress. Maryland has the opportunity—and the responsibility—to fight back by passing a new voting map that will counteract Republican efforts to rig congressional maps and avoid accountability in the midterms. The only way to enact national solutions to protect voting rights and end partisan gerrymandering is to elect a pro-democracy Congress, and we can’t do that with rigged maps. The American people are counting on you, and the people of Maryland deserve a vote. That’s why, as your constituent, I’m urging you to support Maryland redistricting. Demand the new proposed map be brought to a vote, then vote YES. The midterms are close, and we have no time to waste.
