Protect Medicaid funding for vulnerable Americans
To: Rep. Hoyer
From: A constituent in Waldorf, MD
May 22
I urge you not to cut Medicaid funding in the proposed "One Big Beautiful Bill Act." Medicaid provides crucial healthcare coverage for millions of low-income Americans, including children, pregnant women, people with disabilities, and the elderly. Slashing Medicaid spending would jeopardize access to essential medical services for our most vulnerable citizens. As legislators, you have a responsibility to prioritize the well-being of all constituents, not just wealthy individuals who stand to benefit from tax cuts. Preserving Medicaid funding should be a non-negotiable aspect of this legislation. The bill's projected $2.3 trillion addition to the national debt over the next decade is already a concerning figure – cutting vital programs like Medicaid would only exacerbate harm to those who can least afford it. I implore you to remove any proposed Medicaid cuts and maintain this vital safety net program.
