The Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling has imperiled our country and undermined democracy. It has it has tipped the scaled of elections in favor of corporations large enough to buy influence, instead of favoring individual voters. Everyone is meant to have one voice in a democracy. No more and no less. Citizens United undermines this principle. Hawaii has shown us the clearest way yet to fight back. We must redefine what a corporation is in the entiretyof the USA, which will once again put limits on corporate political donations. I urge you to propose and pass similar legislation at the federal and state level immediately.
