Extraneous provision in the budget bill before the Senate

To: Sen. Cortez Masto, Sen. Rosen

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

May 29

Hello, staff member. Please share my message below with the Senator. Thank you. Senator: Having finally read the "Big Beautiful Bullshit Bill" passed by the House, in addition to the obvious objections to the cuts to SNAP, Medicaid, and other Social safety nets, there is an extraneous provision that the "Byrd Rule" must be applied to. On page 544 is "SEC. 70302. RESTRICTION ON ENFORCEMENT". A provision limiting the courts ability to enforce court orders and injunctions by changing the rules by which a contempt charge may be imposed and enforced against government officials, if I, a non-lawyer, understand it correctly. If this doesn't meet the very definition of "extraneous", as defined by the Senate itself, nothing does. I eagerly await the gutting of this misery-creating budget bill and the removal of Sec. 70302. The Executive Branch must obey the courts' orders. Thank you.
