Women’s Health Initiative

To: Rep. Mast, Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Jupiter, FL

April 24

I am writing to express my deep outrage over the decision to halt the NIH Women’s Health Initiative study. This is not about fiscal responsibility—it is about misogyny, plain and simple. The Women’s Health Initiative has provided critical data that has saved lives, shaped policy, and informed clinical practice for decades. To stop this work midstream, under the thin guise of budgetary constraints, is not just irresponsible—it is dangerous. It sends a clear and chilling message: women’s health is expendable. Let me be absolutely clear—this will not go unnoticed by women across this country. Women are tired of being sidelined. We are tired of decisions that devalue our lives, our health, and our futures. The abandonment of the WHI is not only a betrayal of scientific integrity, but of the millions of women who have trusted and contributed to this research. If this Congress continues to act as a rubber stamp for a fascist executive who seems bent on erasing decades of progress, there will be consequences—at the ballot box. The writing is on the wall. The American people, and women in particular, are mobilizing. We will not forget who stood with us and who stood by in silence. I urge you to take a stand. Demand accountability. Fight to restore and protect the Women’s Health Initiative. Show your constituents that you believe women’s health matters. We are watching. And we are organizing.
