I am writing with an unwavering sense of urgency and outrage to demand that former President Donald J. Trump be held accountable—not only politically, but criminally—for his extensive record of corruption, abuse of power, and complicity in international human rights violations. It is time for the truth to be fully aired and for justice to be served. Trump’s presidency was a devastating assault on democratic values, the rule of law, and human dignity. His actions go far beyond political disagreement—they constitute criminal behavior and moral betrayal on a massive scale. Let us begin with the economy. Trump’s so-called “economic miracle” was a façade, fueled by reckless tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy that ballooned the national deficit and gutted public services. He oversaw a system that allowed billionaires to flourish while working Americans struggled. His mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic crashed the economy and cost hundreds of thousands of lives—lives that were dismissed in favor of stock market performance. This was not leadership—it was economic violence. But the most grotesque aspect of his legacy lies beyond our borders. Trump’s alliance with authoritarian regimes, particularly his support for El Salvador’s current government, directly contributed to the creation and operation of CECOT, a so-called mega-prison that is, in reality, an extermination camp. This prison system is not about justice—it is about erasure. Thousands of people, many innocent, are being starved, tortured, and silenced. Trump's role in greenlighting and funding security initiatives in El Salvador through ICE collaboration and silent approval of Bukele's regime makes him complicit in what amounts to crimes against humanity. This is genocide in real time. This is our generation’s warning siren, and Trump’s fingerprints are all over it. His record includes obstruction of justice, inciting insurrection on January 6th, financial fraud, election interference, sexual assault, and now, international human rights violations. Any one of these would be grounds for prosecution. Together, they paint a picture of a man who treated the presidency as a shield for criminal enterprise. It is not enough to prevent his return to office. He must be tried. He must be publicly held to account. The world needs to see that no one—not even a former U.S. president—is above the law. History is watching. The survivors are watching. The world is watching.
