I am writing to urge you emphatically to veto sb153. This bill represents a significant backslide of our country and our state into authoritarian control, and an egregious violation of the basic civil and h uman rights that our country is supposed to uphold. Immigrant populations have been the backbone of our working class populations for decades. This country was founded by immigrants, and made great by them. We must be the change we want to see in the world! We cannot represent the forces of despair that America has always fought against. I again urge and plead with you to stand for democracy, stand for the American people and our way of life. Do not allow federal overreach to become the norm! This bill will not only have chilling effects on our state’s immigr taxpayers. ant communities, but will also undermine public safety, erode publi c trust, and place a significant financial burden on North Carolina
