Demand Trump cancel the July 4th Fireworks Show and Face Legal Accountability

July 4

Demand Trump Cancel the July 4th Fireworks Show and Face Legal Accountability Cancel this fireworks show, and pursue legal action against Donald Trump personally for knowingly exposing hundreds of thousands of people to hazardous air without warning them. This is not a hypothetical risk — the National Park Service ran its own air quality modeling, saw PM2.5 levels projected at 600 to 2,000 micrograms per cubic meter, and told its own staff to wear N95 masks and stay indoors. The EPA's "hazardous" threshold is 250. The public got none of that information. Trump's press secretary called it a "must-see event." The health consequences are real and serious. PM2.5 particles penetrate deep into the lungs and heart, trigger asthma attacks, and are linked to Alzheimer's, dementia, and impaired brain development in children. Launch sites sit near Southeast D.C. neighborhoods where Black and lower-income residents already carry higher rates of asthma and heart disease. On top of that, D.C. is forecast to hit a heat index above 110°F — and Trump's "really long speech" pushes the fireworks to 10:30 or 11 p.m., keeping crowds outside in extreme heat for hours longer than usual. A government that models its own disaster, warns its own employees, and then invites the public without disclosure isn't making a policy mistake — it's making a choice. Trump made that choice. He should be held personally accountable for it.
