Reject budget cutting vital programs, favoring wealthy over vulnerable
To: Rep. Tran
From: A constituent in Fullerton, CA
April 8
I respectfully urge you to vote against the concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for fiscal years 2025-2034 (H.Con.Res. 14). This resolution proposes deep cuts to vital programs and services that would harm vulnerable Americans while providing massive tax breaks that disproportionately benefit the wealthy and large corporations. The budget calls for reducing deficits by over $2 trillion over the next decade, with much of these cuts coming from critically important areas like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, education, housing assistance, and environmental protection. At the same time, it provides a $4.5 trillion increase in the deficit through tax cuts skewed towards the highest income brackets. This lopsided approach sacrifices the wellbeing of Americans who can least afford it in order to further enrich the already wealthy. It is fundamentally unfair and shortsighted, undermining our nation's future prosperity for the sake of regressive tax policies. Instead, we should pursue a balanced approach that protects essential services, strengthens the social safety net, and asks the wealthiest to pay their fair share. The disproportionate impacts of these budget cuts will fall hardest on children, seniors, low-income families, and people with disabilities who rely on these programs for basic needs like healthcare, food, and housing. Making such draconian cuts is both economically reckless and morally indefensible. I urge you to reject this ill-conceived budget resolution and instead work towards one that upholds our nation's commitment to justice, compassion and shared prosperity.
