Investigate Trump's Pay-to-Play Pardon Scheme

To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

August 21

Investigate Trump's pardon racket and demand accountability for the $1.7 billion stripped from fraud victims. The House Judiciary Committee Democrats just released a 25-page report documenting how Trump's clemency decisions have relieved white-collar criminals of billions in fines, forfeitures, and court-ordered restitution — money owed to real people who were defrauded. The pattern is impossible to ignore. Trevor Milton, convicted of defrauding Nikola investors, donated $1.8 million to Trump's reelection effort and walked away from a potential $700 million restitution order. The Camberos family was relieved of $80 million in restitution and forfeiture. BitMEX executives had $130 million in federal fines wiped clean. This isn't clemency — it's a cash-for-pardons operation that punishes victims twice. Meanwhile, Trump's Treasury Department is destroying the shell-company ownership registry that law enforcement uses to investigate money laundering, and the administration has gutted the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and dismantled kleptocracy task forces. The fraud isn't just being forgiven — the tools to catch it are being dismantled. Hold hearings, demand documents, and use every oversight tool available to expose this.
