Our house (the United States) is on fire, please help!

To: Gov. Stitt, Rep. Menz, Sen. Boren

From: A constituent in Norman, OK

February 20

I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent about the direction our country is heading and the priorities that appear to be taking precedence while so many urgent issues remain unresolved. Right now, it feels as though America’s house is on fire. Families are struggling economically. Trust in institutions is eroding. Global instability is rising. Yet instead of focusing on strengthening our democracy, stabilizing our economy, and protecting vulnerable people, too much energy is being spent on divisive rhetoric and political theater. I am especially disturbed by the continued lack of transparency and accountability surrounding the Epstein files. The American people deserve the full truth. Anyone in a position of power who exploited underage girls must be investigated thoroughly and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law — regardless of political affiliation, wealth, or influence. Justice must apply equally to everyone. No one is above the law. It is also profoundly troubling to watch the tone of our national leadership deteriorate. Watching elected officials resort to taunts and name-calling whenever they are challenged is humiliating for our nation. We should expect steadiness, accountability, and respect — not playground tactics. Political disagreement should be answered with policy solutions and substantive debate, not personal attacks. Additionally, debates around reproductive healthcare continue to ignore the lived realities of women. I personally experienced a miscarriage at eight weeks and required a D&C — a medical procedure classified as abortion care — after my pregnancy had already ended. These are complex and deeply personal medical situations. They should never be reduced to slogans or weaponized for political gain. I am asking you to focus on what truly matters: protecting democratic institutions, restoring integrity to public office, demanding accountability for abuses of power, and addressing the real economic and social challenges facing American families. This is not about party loyalty. It is about whether we will be remembered as leaders who defended the rule of law and human dignity — or as those who allowed spectacle and corruption to erode the foundations of our country. I urge you to choose courage, integrity, and accountability. Our house (The United States) is on fire and we have to push for change now Write
