I cannot condone policies that deny essential medical care to transgender youth or enable discrimination against this vulnerable population. Every major medical association recognizes that gender-affirming care is safe, effective, and often lifesaving treatment for transgender individuals experiencing gender dysphoria. Denying access to this care increases risks of depression, suicide, and other negative mental health outcomes. I urge reconsideration of this misguided executive order that disregards scientific consensus and targets an already marginalized group. Protecting the rights and wellbeing of all citizens, including transgender youth, should be a priority. Gender-affirming healthcare is not
"mutilation" but compassionate, evidence-based care that allows transgender people to live authentically.
