An Open Letter

To: Gov. Polis

From: A constituent in Colorado Springs, CO

January 13

It would be unforgivable to not have Tina Peters serve her well earned sentence. She tampered with election results from a most trusted position as county clerk. She violated a solemn oath to serve the people of her county, the state, and the entire country as overseer of the most important foundational piece of our government. She was sentenced fairly and according to the law for her heinous crimes, as her actions were treasonous and unjustifiable. Tina Peters undermined the faith of the people of the great state of Colorado in our election process and our elected officials. Giving her clemency for such grievous violations of the law and her oath sends the wrong message to the people, to other county clerks, to other election officials, and to other people who would attempt to do harm in future elections. Do not let this administration bully you. Your future political aspirations cannot factor into your decision, and if they are, consider this: how humiliating would it be to run for President and lose your home state because you failed to protect its future election security with one unforgivable action.
