Urgent Action Needed to Stop Mass Terminations and Federal Agency Closures

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Hoyer

From: A verified voter in Brandywine, MD

February 19

I am writing to demand immediate action to stop the mass firings of probationary federal employees and the alarming closure of key federal agencies under the current administration. These reckless decisions are not about efficiency—they are about dismantling essential government functions and destabilizing the civil service. Thousands of dedicated federal workers are being terminated without cause, stripping our government of expertise and continuity. Agencies like USAID, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and even critical public health offices are being shuttered or gutted, leaving the American people vulnerable. These cuts will have long-lasting consequences, disrupting services that veterans, consumers, and communities rely on daily. This is an attack on the integrity of the federal workforce and a direct threat to public service. I urge you to: 1. Publicly oppose these terminations and agency closures. Silence is not an option when livelihoods and essential services are at stake. 2. Push for immediate congressional oversight to stop these actions and hold the administration accountable. 3. Support legislation to protect federal employees from politically motivated purges and ensure agencies can continue serving the public. I expect a response outlining what actions you are taking to fight these disastrous policies. Federal employees and the American people deserve leaders who will stand up against this reckless dismantling of government.
