Vote to further protect live event ticket buyers

To: Asm. Tangipa, Sen. Grove

As your constituent and a live entertainment fan, I urge you to support AB 1720 (the California Fans First Act) and AB 1349. The current live-event ticketing market is deeply unfair to regular consumers. Hardworking Californians are routinely priced out of seeing their favorite artists due to predatory resale practices. Brokers use automated bots to scoop up inventory instantly, only to list those tickets at astronomical markups on secondary platforms. AB 1720 will bring much-needed relief by capping ticket resale markups at 10% above face value, ensuring that tickets remain affordable for actual fans rather than serving as speculative investments for brokers. Furthermore, AB 1349 will protect consumers by banning speculative ticketing and deceptive venue-mimicking websites. I am however concerned by reports that these bills would give the ticketing monopoly greater control over what fans can do with tickets once purchased and would like to have protections added to both bills. Please stand up for consumers and culture in California by amending and voting YES on AB 1720 and AB 1349.
