Redirect Defense Spending to Domestic Priorities

To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Curtis, Sen. Lee

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

March 11

I'm asking you to vote against any increase to the Department of Defense budget and redirect those funds to programs that actually serve Americans. The Pentagon has proven it cannot manage the resources it already receives. Defense spending has ballooned while our communities face crises the military can't solve. Housing costs are crushing families across the country, with Nevada becoming a symbol of America's affordability crisis. Infrastructure is crumbling. We need investment in water systems, affordable housing, and public services that directly improve people's lives. The DOD has repeatedly failed audits and wasted billions on cost overruns and mismanagement. Meanwhile, essential domestic programs get cut or underfunded. That's backwards. Every dollar we pour into an already bloated defense budget is a dollar we're not spending on the real threats Americans face: unaffordable housing, failing infrastructure, and inadequate social services. Vote no on defense budget increases. Support amendments that shift funding to housing assistance, infrastructure repair, and community programs. Your constituents need schools and roads, not more Pentagon waste.
