Take action to grant citizenship to undocumented immigrants before it's too late

To: Rep. Rudow, Sen. Mayfield

From: A verified voter in Asheville, NC

November 11

The mass deportation plan proposed by the former president raises serious human rights concerns and would have devastating impacts on families and communities across the country. Deporting over 11 million undocumented immigrants en masse is an extreme and inhumane solution that fails to address the underlying issues driving immigration in a thoughtful, comprehensive manner. Such a sweeping deportation effort would require unjustified expansions of law enforcement, detention facilities, and transportation at an enormous fiscal cost of billions of dollars annually according to estimates. More importantly, it would tear apart millions of mixed-status families, disrupting lives and livelihoods. Many of those targeted have been residing in the United States for years or even decades and are firmly rooted in their communities. Rather than pursuing heavy-handed enforcement actions, we should pursue practical immigration reforms that provide pathways to legal status for undocumented immigrants already integrated into our society. This would allow them to fully participate, pay taxes, and contribute openly without fear of deportation while securing our borders through smart, effective policies. An extremist mass deportation agenda sows fear, divides communities, and does nothing to fix our broken immigration system through sensible, humane solutions.
