The recent push to include a provision in the federal budget bill authorizing the sale of millions of acres of public lands is deeply concerning. These lands belong to all Americans and should be protected for current and future generations to enjoy. Selling off public lands for short-term gains would be a major loss for hunters, anglers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts who cherish these natural spaces. Rather than prioritizing profits, we should be looking for ways to expand access to public lands and ensure their conservation for wildlife habitat, recreation, and responsible resource use. Public lands play a vital role in preserving our nation's natural heritage and outdoor traditions. Once these lands are sold off, it will be nearly impossible to regain them. I urge you to oppose any measures that enable the sale of public lands in this or any future budget bills. These lands are a priceless national treasure that must be safeguarded for the benefit of all Americans. A principled stance against public land sales is needed to uphold our shared ownership and stewardship of these invaluable resources.
