Repeal the SAVE Act and Restore Voting Rights
Repeal the SAVE Act, this bill disenfranchise millions of eligible American voters under the false pretense of election security.
The SAVE Act targets women and people of color by design. Up to 69 million American women who changed their names after marriage would need to hunt down marriage certificates and navigate bureaucratic name-matching requirements just to exercise their constitutional right. Meanwhile, 21.3 million voting-age citizens lack easy access to proof-of-citizenship documents, with people of color disproportionately affected. This isn't about election integrity. Noncitizen voting is already illegal and vanishingly rare, punishable by jail, fines, and deportation.
The real-world results are clear. Kansas blocked over 30,000 voter registrations under a similar law before a federal court struck it down as unconstitutional in 2018. Most of those blocked were likely citizens. Arizona has barred 32,000 voters from state and local elections, disproportionately affecting young people. Just last month, a federal appeals court ruled portions of Arizona's proof requirements were "unlawful measures of voter suppression."
This bill solves a nonexistent problem while creating massive barriers for legitimate voters. Reject it.
